Dreamy cottages, cobblestoned lanes, picturesque water streams and the loveliest little villages. The Cotswolds are our family’s go-to destination in the countryside when we need a quick break from the city.
It is the absolute best place to go for beautiful long walks, have the little ones meet cute farm animals along the way, and… shop for antiques!
We have some favourite places we like to stop by every time we’re in Gloucestershire, here they are:
Daylesford has a few cafes and delis in London but the original farm is in Kingham, Gloucestershire. It’s also the site of the Bamford Wellness Spa which makes it a must-visit for me!
This is a really old-school coaching inn that is technically in Worcestershire but it’s still worth a visit if you’re in the area. It dates back to the 1300s with a vaulted ceiling, original wood panelling and roaring log fires. Lots of history and delicious food, it’s one of our top choices for a date night.
We are huge National Trust fans (our membership has been the best thing we’ve bought since we moved back home) and Hidcote is one of my favourite National Trust sites. There are beautiful gardens, a chapel, a shop and even a bookshop. Pure bliss.
I love garden centres all year round but there’s something particularly wonderful about them at the beginning of autumn. Whenever we’re in the area, I always indulge my inner gardener with a visit to the Burford Garden Company. They have a huge home section as well as all the garden essentials so I can wander around the furniture and ceramics while Mackenzie and the girls choose the latest additions to the vegetable garden. It’s a really magical place for anyone who loves the outdoors.
